Antony Santos has said that he was motivated by Lisandro Martinez to join Manchester United.
The Brazilian said he is delighted to be reunited with ‘great player’ and ‘great friend’ Martinez.
The 22-year-old completed his £86 million move to Manchester United on Wednesday and was unveiled on Thursday.
His big-money move was confirmed on deadline day, with the Brazilian signing a five-year contract with United.
Antony links up with a number of familiar faces at the Theatre of Dreams, having played under United manager Erik ten Hag and alongside Martinez at Ajax.
On his relationship with Martinez, Antony said: “We spent two years together at Ajax. We developed a really strong friendship.
“I’ve got a lot of respect for him and his family who I got to know as well. I’m glad we’re back together again to make history.
“He messaged me today and yesterday. He’s a great friend that I’ve made in football. Now we’re back together and we’ve spoken about achieving great things together here.”
